Mission Statement and Our Missions

Shining Service Worldwide™ is an organization that supports the successful re-integration of military women to civilian life.  Too often our females in service fall through the cracks and don’t get the attention they deserve, or more importantly, they need.  We want to help provide the resources necessary to succeed.

Our work is based on the principle that if you empower a woman and give her the proper tools, she will be quipped for life after the military.

Our Missions:

Coordinated Health Care For Military Women

In 2015 Shining Service commissioned a study on the Barriers and Pathways to Physical and Mental Health Care for Military Women.  It received approval by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and was conducted under the auspices of the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at Long Island University.

The findings of our study were a heart wrenching call to action and set a strong positive direction for the extension to our present work. We are positioned to launch an initiative that takes what we have learned and puts it to the test.

Twenty-five military women will be chosen to participate in a Coordinated Health Care Pilot for a trail period of 12 months. All services will be provided using a holistic mind-body lens offering a unique opportunity for healing. Peer-to-peer support during this process will be made available and is important in anchoring our efforts.

The women have told us what it will take to stop the suffering and get serious about getting them what they need, how they need it and when they need it.

We listened and are taking action.

Shining Service Makeover Missions

Our Makeover Mission provide a very significant step toward the building of self-esteem and helping change the course of these women’s lives.

Although this mission might seem simple on the surface, the purpose and lasting effects are both powerful and complex.

The participants are treated to a day of beauty and relaxation, which
most have never experienced.  That’s because they’ve spent most of their adult life
putting their country and family’s needs before their own. The walk in quiet and withdrawn and walk out proud and outspoken.  They laugh and talk with other women who have walked in their boots so community is established.

We present each woman with a gift bag filled with products and information that can help them reconnect with their feminine power. They leave the event knowing there are programs available to them and that the SSW team is there with other services to assist them.

Shining Service Career Building Events

We partner with large corporate entities to produce events that help the military woman with effective job placement.  Activities include one-on-one resume writing, help in positioning on social media sites, improving interview skills, and possible mentorship possibilities.

We have worked with JPMorgan, UBS, L’oreal and others business leaders in their efforts to hire female veterans.

Shining Service Worldwide™ is proud to be a special project under the umbrella of our Fiscal Sponsor United Veterans Beacon House, Inc. – a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to provided transitional housing to our nations veterans.
